Kim Soo Hyun reveals which “Dream High” co-star is his ideal girl

Actor Kim Soo Hyun recently participated in a “Dream High” press conference with his fellow castmates, and he delivered an interview that left reporters feeling like this young star was wiser than his years.

Kim Soo Hyun began with his reflections on how the drama is faring in ratings. “I’m happy the ratings are going up, but the actors and the staff are not quite satisfied yet”. He added, “I would like to see the drama do well. We will show you a youth drama overflowing with passion and fighting spirit“.

Kim continued, “Until now, I’ve only acted, but singers have to act while singing and dancing on stage. I can feel them fill the screen with energy just from their performances alone. It was hard for me to bring myself up to par with my singer co-stars, but I think I will have learned a huge lesson by the end of this project”.

Reporters then turned to the topic of his rivalry with 2PM’s Taecyeon, who plays ‘Jin Gook’. “On screen, Taecyeon and I have an interesting tension through eye contact alone. So even when we’re not shooting, I tend to keep looking at him.” Then he jokingly added, “When I turn around, I want to see him again!”

Kim was then asked who his ideal girl was out of all of his idol co-stars. Replying with much wit, he answered “Suzy in the spring, Eun Jung in the summer, IU in the fall, and Taecyeon in the winter.”

IU reveals her “Dream High” character’s virtual diet

Singer/actress IU revealed the secret diet plan behind her character’s weight loss in KBS’s “Dream High” while walking reporters through the film set during the drama’s press conference on January 25th.

Fans immediately noticed a diet plan scrawled on the school’s blackboard amidst several other lunch menus for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine.

The special ‘diet menu’ consists of salad, a boiled egg, boiled sweet potatoes, and eight baby tomatoes, all amounting to exactly 346 calories.

Fans speculated this to be the diet plan used by IU’s character in losing weight for her transformation.  Although it’s certainly interesting to look at, they expressed their sorrow in ‘Pil Sook’ having to go through such a strict menu.

IU to perform at the KBS ‘Winter Concert’ accompanied by Korean traditional music

Singer IU has set a new challenge for herself: to sing a song in the Korean traditional music genre with her famous ‘three high notes’.

IU will stand on stage of the KBS youth orchestra concert, titled ‘Winter Concert’, on January 28th at the KBS hall. The ‘Winter Concert’ will be dedicated to young adults currently enjoying their school break, and will consist of fusion music between both Korea’s popular and traditional music.

For this upcoming concert, IU is scheduled to perform her ‘Dream High’ OST song, “Someday“, as well as sing her most recent title track, “Good Day’.

“As a way to make it easier to approach young adults with traditional music, we decided to combine it with IU, a singer who is receiving tremendous popularity and acknowledgement for her talents. We’re anticipating the beautiful harmony between the sounds of the traditional instruments and IU’s ‘three high notes’, which will hopefully be a meaningful stage for the young adults,” stated a representative.

IU believed that her part on “Dream High” would be smaller

IU started out as a small character on “Dream High“, but as the series progressed, her ‘ugly duckling’ persona quickly became an important role.

IU’s representative spoke with Newsen on January 25th, and said: “When we first got the synopsis, we knew this character would be a fat and ugly one who transforms into a pretty girl. But as the character became more developed, her part definitely got bigger.”

The rep added, “The script isn’t always completed before filming starts, so we don’t know how things got developed to this point; still, her part on the show definitely became bigger than we expected. She’s very happy about it and is having fun.”

He concluded, “She comes back as the beautiful IU from the chubby Pilsook, although she said it’s easier to act as the chubby Pilsook. Please look forward to her acting because she is doing her best.”

[Spoiler: Dream High] Wooyoung performs a duet with…

Fans of KBS’s “Dream High“ have been waiting for the love line between Wooyoung and IU to connect, and it seems like their patience will finally pay off!

To recap, Wooyoung’s character, ‘Jason,’ noticed ‘Pil Sook’s’ talents from the very start, even though everyone else was dismissive of the ‘ugly duckling’. He helped dissuade her from dropping out of Girin Arts High School by expressing his desire to stand on stage with her.

Previous episodes led to this sweet buildup in plot, and fans of the ‘milky couple’ were ecstatic to see Jason and Pilsook finally go on their first date.

This week, ‘Jason’ caught ‘Pil Sook’ dropping chocolates in his cubby, and asked her if she would like to go sing karaoke with him. She agrees, and to her delight, finds that she has the best day of her life there – the two ended up singing every song listed in the karaoke book!

Ultimately, Jason wants to team up with Pil Sook for her entrance class performance, but he has to figure out how to overcome a certain clause – he’s of a different class, and so he may not be allowed to sing with her. So tune in to January 24th’s episode to see how he does it eventually.

Update: Meanwhile, a photo of a slimmer looking Pil Sook (IU) was also revealed today.
